It was reported that the same foliage scene between beta1 and beta2 had a big loss in performance. We need to investigate the cause as it seems related to a vegetation re-work effort to improve quality is related.
Slack thread in beta channel [Link Removed]
Testing conditions:
• All objects in the scene were removed. A plane of 100M was added.
• Using the scatter tool, the chinacherry was scattered over the plane 10 times.
• All other variables like quality settings, window size, other opened applications on the PC were controlled and equal between the tests
• The Scenario was repeated 3 times to account for any viability between placements
Results:
2023.2.3 -> 10 scatters on 100M plane of Chinabery Tree -> 116 FPS
2024.1 -> 10 scatters on 100M plane of Chinabery Tree -> 53 FPS
Extra information: The amount of polygons per tree is the same: 1.3M
