A licensee has reported that their vertex animations are leaving a lot of be desired with anti-aliasing. Specifically using vertex animated meshes can leave aliasing remnants behind while it's shifting that can be noticeable up close and more so from distances.
I've attached a video to demonstrate, but the quality may not be the easiest to see. The attached project is this setup and will probably demonstrate much more easily.
If using attached Project:
1. Unzip and Open attached Project
2. Snap view to camera location
3. should see aliasing remnant delay after animation shift
Setting up from scratch:
1. Open UE4
2. Import and setup vertex animated meshes and textures (Attached in zip file) Use this docs to setup each: https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Engine/Animation/Tools/VertexAnimationTool/index.html
3. Place the meshes in the scene
4. Get close enough so that it blocks part of the scene behind it
5. will visibly see aliasing remnants
Results: There will be aliasing remnants behind the portion of the mesh that is animating. At distances this can be more noticeable.
Expected: Aliasing shouldn't be as noticeable.
