User reported a considerable performance drop on iOS between versions 4.7.6 and 4.8. I was able to reproduce this perf drop using the steps he provided.
For comparison, two packages must be made for each version. I tested this on iPhone 5s, OS 8.3.
1. Package SunTemple project using 4.7.6
2. For first package, make sure only 'Supports Open GLES2' is checked. For second, make sure only 'Support Forward Rendering with Metal' is checked.
3. Set minimum OS version to 8 and Frame Rate Lock to 60 FPS
4. Push to device and use stat fps to observe fps.
5. Repeat steps with 4.8
Results: There is no real difference in FPS between GLES2 SunTemple in 4.7.6 and 4.8, however there is a significant drop in FPS in Metal only between 4.7.6 and 4.8.
