Steps to Reproduce

  • Create a new static mesh in your level, e.g. a cube
  • Mesh paint it completely red, Apply the vertex color information to the source mesh
  • Apply a material that visualizes Vertex Color
  • Duplicate it, so that you have two actors sharing the same static mesh asset
  • Create a Packed Level Actor out of them

You now have two red cubes in your level

  • Edit the PLA
  • Mesh Paint one of the two cubes, make it completely blue, don't Apply to source mesh

At this point, while in the PLA, you have a red and a blue cube

  • Commit Changes on the PLA

As soon as you are back in the original level, both cubes appear red again
