Description

Hair Materials do not react to Light Functions in the same way as other Materials. There is a visual difference between a Directional Light at 1 lux with no Light Function and a Directional Light at 2 lux with a 50% Light Function.

With the Light Function, the hair is darker, but more saturated. Without the Light Function, the hair is brighter but looks washed out.

This visual difference also affects the Eye Material.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Download the Licensee's test project and open (see addl info URL)
2. Open the map "/Game/BugHairLightFunction/BugHairLightFunction"
3. Observe the two directional lights:

  • "DirectionalLight_NoLightFunction", with a brightness of 1 lux, and no Light Function
  • "DirectionalLight_WithLightFunction50%", with a brightness of 2 lux, and a Light Function with a const 0.5 in emissive
    4. Disable "DirectionalLight_WithLightFunction50%" in the Outliner
    5. Observe the character's hair is somewhat gray. Optionally, take a High Resolution Screenshot for later comparison
    6. Re-enable "DirectionalLight_WithLightFunction50%" and disable "DirectionalLight_NoLightFunction" in the Outliner
    7. Observe the character's hair is now somewhat brown and darker. Optionally, take a High Resolution Screenshot for comparison
    8. If you took the screenshots, flipping back and forth between them will make the difference more apparent
