DFAO support in VR is something that we'd like to get to, but is beyond the scope of work that our team can get to in the near future.
However, we are taking an action item to update the documentation to properly reflect that this feature isn't supported in VR to clear up any confusion going forward.
Distance Field Ambient Occlusion does not render in VR.
I mentioned to the user reporting this issue, that using DFAO is more than likely disabled by default due to the baseline cost of using the 'Generate Mesh Distance Field' feature combined with the fact that DFAO only works with a Movable Skylight. Dynamic lights are meant to be used minimally in VR, so it is understandable why this feature is not usable.
It is not explicitly stated in the documentation that this feature and other mesh distance field features are unsupported, and the user makes a fair argument to allow users to choose whether or not they want to take the performance cost of using features associated with mesh distance fields.
1. Open attached project.
2. Press PIE.
3. Exit and Play in the VR Preview.
Outcome The DFAO is not rendering in the VR Preview.
Expected DFAO to render in the VR Preview as it does during regular PIE.
