Developer Notes

While this fix does resolve the Black Screen issue on ES2 devices, it has been decided that ES3.1 will be the minimum for this setting. Due to this, changing this setting on ES2 will not show any change in rendering.

Description

Enabling Tonemapper on Android with Mobile HDR and Bloom enabled causes the entire screen to go black, other than HUD and UMG elements.

This seems to occur on older phones, as this occurred on a Nexus 5 but did not on a Pixel XL. The specific compatibility group has not been narrowed down.

Regression?: No
This occurs in 4.20

Steps to Reproduce
  1. Create a new project based off of the First Person Template
  2. In Project Settings, enable Bloom and Mobile HDR (Restart is required if Mobile HDR is not already enabled)
  3. Package the project for Android ETC-2
  4. Install / Launch the project on an android device (This was tested with a Nexus 5, but did not reproduce on a Pixel XL)
  5. Run the console command "r.mobile.tonemapperfilm 1" without the quotes
Result: Everything except for the crosshair turns black
Expected: A small brightness change occurs everything is still visible.
