When you right click on a Skeleton and select "Retarget to another Skeleton," in the subsequent "Select Skeleton" pop up Window, compatible skeletons are not visible when "Show Only Compatible Skeletons" is selected.
They do become visible, however, when the box is unchecked.
Checking the box again removes the item from the list, but leaves the preview in the [Target] window.
*Note: Could not test for 4.9 because there is not currently an Animation Starter Pack compatible with this version of the engine.
*See attached image
1. Open a new Third Person Blueprint Project
2. Add Animation Starter Pack
3. Note the both the Animation Starter Pack and Third Person Template Character use Identical skeletons: "UE4_Mannequin_Skeleton"
4. In Content/ThirdPersonBP/Character/Mesh, right click on UE4_Mannequin_Skeleton and select "Retarget to another Skeleton"
5. Note "Show Only Compatible Skeletons" is selected
6. Uncheck "Show Only Compatible Skeletons"
7. Now the "UE4_Mannequin_Skeleton" from Content/AnimationStarterPack/Mesh is available to retarget
8. Select the now available "UE4_Mannequin_Skeleton" and it appears in the second Window of the "Select Skeleton" pop up
9. Check "Show Only Compatible Skeletons"
10. Note that the "UE4_Mannequin_Skeleton" remains in the [Target] Window of the "Select Skeleton" pop up but the item itself is no longer available for selection
11. Click the "Select" button at the bottom of the Window
12. Skeleton is sucessfully retargeted so that all the animations from the Animation Starter Pack are available to use with this Skeleton in addition to the original Third Person animations.
EXPECTED: All compatible skeletons to be visible when "Show Only Compatible Skeletons" is selected from the outset. Preview not to remain in [Target] Window when it is no longer listed as a selection option.
